Young people very often benefit from an outbound or experiential approach to care. We have developed an exciting and stimulating program of activities and experiences that meet a wide range of needs for our young residents. These activities have been chosen because they deliver a range of sensory experiences. Our zoo excursions, for example, can provide important stimuli for residents with severe disabilities – the brush of fresh air against the skin or the sounds and smells of animals at play. The effect of these experiences can never be underestimated – they add real quality to the lives of so many of our young residents.
For our pediatric residents we organize several activities, including:
- Excursions to the park, zoo trips, birthday parties, cinemas and football games
- Regular home visits to families
- School attendance
- Hairdresser/barber brought into the facility
- Friday prayers and quran recitation
