Eye Gaze Machine (Dynavox Tobil I 12)
NMC ProVita uses state of the art eye gaze technology to enhance communication and learning in patients of all age groups. Eye tracking and eye control is a technology that makes it possible for computers to know exactly where the user is looking. The Dynavox Tobil I 12 eye gaze device combines eye tracking and control with speech generation, providing opportunities for effective communication in patients with special needs.This device serves as an excellent tool for patients with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), locked in syndrome and spinal cord injuries.
In NMC Provita through the use of the Tobii I 12 , children with SMA are taught age appropriate literacy skills. They attend an in house school where they are taught concepts by a teacher, which is later tested using the Tobii I 12. These children and older adults also use the Tobii I 12 to communicate with their family members, carers and hospital staff. The benefits of using eye gaze technology for patients include:
